Based on the syllabi issued by the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT), the requirements of ISO/TR25107 and the General and Aerospace requirements of PCN, the course provides a basic foundation for technicians, inspectors and engineers called upon to witness, supervise or conduct Liquid Penetrant Inspection procedures.

The course satisfies the formal training element of the Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A issued by ASNT, and the requirements of PCN, and ISO/TR25107 and hence can lead to both Level I and Level II PCN, SNT-TC-1A, BS EN 4179 or NAS-410 Accreditation.

Standards, such as BS EN 571, BS.M39, and ASTM E1417 are introduced on this course. These can be complimented by specific OEM procedural requirements if requested.

Practical aspects are emphasised by ensuring that all theoretical training is complemented with the opportunity to apply a variety of techniques and methods under the guidance of qualified instructors, including exposure to a fully operational pre-cleaning and penetrant system, which is Nadcap, UKAS, and CAA compliant.

The aim of the course is to ensure that in addition to the level one requirements, candidates obtain a complete theoretical and practical understanding of process control checks, indication evaluation, instruction and report writing.

Students are assessed for comprehension and progress during the course, via a structured series of both theoretical and practical phase assessments, which facilitate counselling and assistance where required. On request a formal end of course examination can be conducted.
