Hardness Testing
The course is designed to provide a thorough theoretical
and practical training in the hardness testing of materials as required
by the provisions of BS EN 4179 and NAS 410 for level
I and Level II technicians required to undertake hardness testing.
Some authorities designate technicians for hardness testing as level
I while other use level II.
Appropriate Standards, Procedures, and Specifications
of National and International organisations together with those
of major Aerospace authorities including Airbus, Boeing, BAe Systems,
Westland Helicopter and others are introduced during the course.
Fully qualified instructors provide all tuition.
Students are assessed for comprehension and progress
during the course, via a structured series of both theoretical and
practical phase assessments, which facilitate counselling and assistance
where required. On request a formal end of course examination can
be conducted.

Definition of Hardness, Ways of measuring Hardness
Brinell Hardness, Vickers Hardness
Rockwell Hardness, Superficial Rockwell Hardness
Equipment and its Calibration, Portable Hardness Testers
Advantages and Disadvantages of the various methods
Precautions, Inspection and Recording of Results
Lunch, refreshments, and a complete set of course notes will be
provided during the course.
NOTE: This course can be combined with the courses on conductivity
and heat treatment to provide a comprehensive 2 day course to cover
both technologies. |
