Conductivity Testing
The course is designed to provide a thorough theoretical
and practical training in the conductivity testing of metals as
required by the provisions of BS EN 4179 and NAS 410 for Level I
and Level II technicians required to undertake conductivity testing.
Some authorities designate technicians for conductivity testing
as Level I while others use Level II.
Appropriate Standards, Procedures, and Specifications
of National and International organisations together with those
of major Aerospace authorities including Airbus, Boeing, BAe Systems,
Westland Helicopter and others are introduced during the course.
Fully qualified instructors provide all tuition.
Students are assessed for comprehension and progress
during the course, via a structured series of both theoretical and
practical phase assessments, which facilitate counselling and assistance
where required. On request a formal end of course examination can
be conducted.
The course includes but is not limited to:-
Definition of Conductivity
Electromagnetic Induction
Eddy currents and their geometry
Surface coils
Factors affecting Material Conductivity
Lift off, edge effect, geometrical effects
Standard Depth of Penetration
Test Equipment
Units
Applications
Limitations and Precautions
Inspection and Recording results
Lunch, refreshments, and a complete set of course notes will be
provided during the course.
NOTE: This course can be combined with the courses on Hardness
and Heat Treatment to provide a comprehensive 2 day course to cover
both technologies. |
