Mr. R.J. Rollason

Bob started his working life as a Precision Detail Fitter on all manner of new projects including Concord and Harrier. Around 1977, whilst working for J S Chinn on aircraft and engine components as a metrology inspector, he got involved with Magnetics and Penetrants which in a few years led to him to being appointed chief inspector of a Fabrication / Machine Shop. By this time he had expanded into Ultrasonic testing, regularly conducting inspections on behalf of Rolls-Royce, GEC and the MOD.

By the time of the mid 80’s, Bob had specialised in NDT adding Radiography to his capabilities, and was working for The Welding Institute (TWI) in their Training and Certification dept. Around 1995 Bob took his level 3 skills and abilities to Saudi Arabia and was appointed as the NDT level 3 for Aramco, being responsible for all their NDT training and certification activities.

Because Bob’s extensive experience in both the Aerospace and Fabrication sectors, he was invited to join the team at the SWSNDT where he now regularly conducts multi-method courses at the school and on client premises. He manages all the courses relating to Fabrication and acts as a consultant level 3 on behalf of BAe Systems suppliers.

Bob has been a member of The British Institute of NDT since the early 80s and is an active participant of the South Wales Branch. He is also a member of ASNT and holds ASNT and PCN level 3 certification.
