Colin Thomas started his NDT career by attending the full time Royal Air Force multi-method NDT course in 1978 whilst working for the Ministry of Defence. He gained his initial experience applying all the main methods to aircraft components and structures but over the years has worked in a variety of industry sectors. He gained ASNT level 3 certification in the 5 main methods in 1989 and has conducted training courses, examinations and level 3 consultancy activities at a variety locations around the world.

He is a Fellow of the British Institute of NDT, a former Vice President, and has served on most of the Institute’s executive committees. Currently, he serves on the Civil Aviation Authority NDT advisory committee as the nominated representative for training and certification matters.
